Electrical Integrity Test (Test & Tag)

Electrical integrity testing is not only a legal requirement for all businesses under Australian Standards set out in AS/NZ 3760:2010. It is the best way to guarantee the safety of your electrical appliance for your workplace and its employees.
Visual Inspections of the equipment are conducted to check for any physical damage which can range from damaged insulation, incorrectly wired or damaged plugs and external cover damage.

Electrical integrity testing is performed with a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT Tester). This will test the earth continuity, lead polarity, insulation resistance and earth leakage to ensure the appliance is safe to operate.

RCD Testing

A residual-current device (RCD), or residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB), is a device that quickly breaks an electrical circuit to prevent potential fire and/or serious harm from electrical shock, for example if a live wire is cut and touched by a person or piece of equipment the RCD will detect a flow to an unintended path and trip the RCD.
Push button testing is used to check the RCD is operating correctly
Time / Injection Test or “trip testing” is used by simulating a fault on the circuit and a trip time is given to ensure the RCD is operating correctly.

Exit Lights

Emergency Exit Lighting is designed to assist people during an emergency to exit a building, and as such must be maintained and inspected to ensure they are operational even with the loss of power for no less than 90 minutes.

To ensure the safety and duty of care in your workplace, and in accordance with AS/NZS2293.2, EIT services can provide this as part of our overall service.

Tagging and reporting

Once testing is complete, each appliance will be tagged with a unique ID number/barcode and will be added to an ongoing asset register.

The results will be provided in a tested items report and an asset register with completed test history of all compliant and non-compliant items will be securely accessible online to our clients.
